The Cumberbaby of new parents, Benedict and Sophie finally named after three months.
The first-born son of 39 year-old Benedict Cumberbatch, English actor and film producer with wife Sophie Hunter, 37 year-old English avant-garde theatre and opera director, playwright, actress, and singer named Christopher Carlton. Their first child was born in 1 June 2015, Carlton is a name passed down by the men in the British actor’s family.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter were a longtime friend before getting married. In 14 February 2015, they tie a knot at the 12th century Church of St. Peter and St. Paul on the Isle of Wight followed by a reception, Mottistone Manor. A spokesperson for the couple confirmed that they are expecting their first child later in the year. As new parents, they both remained private since the birth of their son Christopher. The child’s name didn’t go public, until three months later.
According to the statement released by their rep, “Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son. We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during these next few precious weeks.”
Cumberbatch been a great actor. In 2000, he appeared in Heartbeat and 2002 in Silent Witness. Before starring as Stephen Hawking in the television film Hawking in 2004, he appeared in Fortysomething in 2003. since 2010, he played Sherlock Holmes in the series Sherlock and starred in Tom Stoppard’s adaptation of Parade’s End (2012).
Throughout his successful career, he received numerous awards and nominations including two Laurence Olivier Award nominations, winning Best Actor in a Play for Frankenstein. Three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for Sherlock.
