The Playful Universe: When I was a kid all I wanted to do was play. I never had any interest in becoming one of those serious adults who certainly didn’t appear to be having much fun (the answer to life the universe and everything).
Years later, I’ve come to realize the Playful Universe as a deep spiritual truth and that I was right on target as a child. Vedic wisdom says all creation arises from Lila – the Sanskrit word meaning cosmic play or the play of creation.
All too often, humans (especially Westerners!) have the misunderstanding that life is supposed to be some dreadfully serious thing.
Nothing could be further from the truth, and nothing keeps people from connecting to their true Self more than a lack of playfulness. This serious approach to life is rooted in fear, and arises from a disconnected human perspective.
When you fail to realize that you are loved unconditionally, and that it’s not about what you do or don’t do, you tense up and are in a state of resisting the very alignment that you seek.
And so here’s the deal: just relax, lighten up, and know that it’s never been about trying to live up to some imagined standard, reach some perfect state, or any such thing.
Be light and easy. Laugh. Be playful. Have more fun. Do this and you will feel your alignment. You’ll begin feeling the genuine happiness and joy that you came here to experience.
You’ll also begin to notice the Universe has a great sense of humor. Your awareness will rise, and you’ll begin to see synchronicity everywhere. Things too bizarre to be a mere coincidence will start showing up, and it’ll feel like the Universe is winking at you. You’ll begin to get in on the great cosmic joke.
“It’s not the normal thing for most humans to understand the playfulness of the Universe, because there really is nothing serious going on here. It’s just joyful expansion, you see. And you’re the ones that introduce the seriousness of it to it.” — Abraham-Hicks
