Boat Collision in Egypt’s Nile river took lives of many, death toll rises. Captain of the boat and his deputy been arrested by the police.
Boat and a cargo ship crashed in Egypt’s Nile River, Wednesday, took lives of many passengers and left missing persons. Nile runs along the length of Egypt dotted with cargo ships, party boats and fishing vessels.
The boat collision is the latest accident happened in the said area blaming slow enforcement. Accident in Nile river caught the attention of authorities. The captain of the boat as well as his deputy was being arrested by Egyptian police after the crash, allegedly unsafe sail.
Egypt’s Interior ministry stated that more than a dozen civilians have drowned in the crashed, when the passenger boat traveling down the Nile near Cairo collided with a scow, causing the boat to capsize.
There where six passengers reportedly saved out of the 25 on board. Search and rescue for other missing passengers still continues, police and emergency vessels were searching for survivors during daytime and stopped at night.
In statement of Abdel-Ghaffar, no less than seven children were among those who drowned, including a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old. It was not clear how many passengers were on the boat when it was hit. Five survivors were plucked from the river but an unknown number were still missing.
The security and hospital announced many children on the boat, without giving the ages of the two children who died on the said accident.
