Singapore national cyclist ask for apology- – National cyclist Vincent Ang,the bronze medalist at the SEA Games is being investigated by police for alleged assault that he hit a fellow national rider twice, during the training session and second at the Adam Road food center.
On June, Vincent Ang, 38, was the only male cyclist who won a medal at the 28th SEA Games , where he finished with a bronze in the men’s criterium.
Singapore National cyclist Vincent Ang was involved in an argument with a rider. When fellow national cyclist Ang Kee Meng defended the rider, Ang allegedly hit him twice and struck him again while the cyclists were taking a break at Adam Road food center.
Vincent Ang is currently under investigation by the Singapore Cycling Federation (SCF) for the alleged accusation.
According to eyewitness Mr Ronnie Ying said: “Vincent walked directly to where Kee Meng was seated and asked him if he would like to settle it there and then. Before Kee Meng could give him a response, Vincent had hit Kee Meng across the head.”
” Vincent looked like he was about to get more violent, so two of our friends stood up to shield Kee Meng and told Vincent to leave. Kee Meng remained seated all this while and appeared quite shocked by the whole episode.” he added.
Singapore national cyclist earned a reputation as a bad boy athlete in late January when someone posted photos of him holding his phone in one hand and his two-year-old son in the other arm while cycling. He was wearing the national team uniform when he was caught on camera.
Ang said, “I would like to apologize to my team-mates and Singapore Cycling for my actions on Sunday, July 19. I will cooperate with the authorities fully over this matter”.IMAGE/www.straitstimes.com
