High School Salutatorian who delivered speech over her school, asked help from Court of Appeals for her Good Moral Character certificate.
Krisel Mallari, 16-year-old, graduated as high school salutatorian in Sto Niño Parochial School, Quezon City. Mallari was assigned to give welcome remarks during her graduation, however, she delivered message pointing school’s lack of fairness.
The high school salutatorian asked help from Court of Appeals for Sto Niño Parochial School to give her Good Moral Character certificate, needed for her admission to the University of Sto. Tomas , she will be taking up accountancy.
In statement of Mallari’s petition, “However, without a certificate of good moral character from my high school, I cannot enroll. Hence, private respondents’ continued unjustified refusal to issue the said certificate would result to the denial of my application for admission in UST and forfeiture of my reserved slot in its accountancy program. It will put my education to a halt and my future in jeopardy.”
Based on the report, Krisel Mallari filed an urgent petition to the Court of Appeals to order Sto Niño Parochial School to gave her a certificate of good moral character. The certificate is compulsory document she needed to enter University of Sto Tomas.
Her speech went viral on social media as she stood against corrupt academic system. Mallari wasn’t able to finished her speech, she was stopped by school officials. Salutatorian, Mallari delivered different speech as what the school had approved.
Statement from the school, said it is their policy to approve all speeches, and Mallari knew she would not be permitted to deliver hers if she veered away from the approved one. Sto Niño Parochial School, also denied Mallari’s accusation on not showing her grade computation and not giving a copy to her father knowing it was against the school policy.IMAGE/www.rappler.com
