Indonesian students ranked 3rd at 7th International Olympiad on Astrophysics. The members of the Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad Team managed to bag 3rd place world ranking in Astronomy and Astrophysics in Volos, Greece, on July 27-August 5 .
There were participants from 39 countries, the Indonesian team earned a total score of 194.6 to surpass the Chinese team ranked fourth (182.1) and India ranked fifth (181.4). The first rank achieved by South Korea (211.2), while ranking second Singapore won (201.7).
Russia and the United States respectively ranked 10 and 11. The state ranked 24th in neighboring Thailand, while Malaysia ranked 35 according to setkab.go.id report.
Indonesian team members Astronomy and Astrophysics consists of Adli M.Imam Kharisma Bangsa School, Banten; Orlando David Kurniawan of SMAK 1 Sower, Jakarta; Marcelina Viana from SMA Santa Ursula, Jakarta, DKI Jakarta; Rizki Pangestu Revelation of SMAN 1 Banjarnegara, Central Java and R.Aryo Tri Adhimukti of SMAN 3 Malang, East Java.
While the individual category, David Orlando Kurniawan was in position 11 of the 182 participants with a score of 95.02. The first rank achieved by Denis Turcu from Romania (100.4), while ranking second won by Francis Wang of Singapore (99.85).
The award for best theory test achieved by Seyed Shayan Nazemi of Iran, while for the lab exam best achieved by Francis Wang of Singapore. The award for the best innovative answers given to Iustina Craciun of Romania.
