Zayn Malik – former One Direction member signed a solo record deal with RCA Records.
The singer took to twitter on Wednesday night to announce the good news about the solo deal and said he can’t wait to show the world who he “really is.”
“I guess I never explained why I left, it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you what real music is,” he tweeted.
Simon Cowell, X-factor judge and founder of the band, publicly congratulated Malik for signing a new solo record deal. But his former One Directions bandmates remained silent on the subject.
Some fans speculated that the current pop band members are not happy about their former bandmate claiming he is going to make “real music”.
It’s a big move for Simon because Zayn could have a colorful solo career but his priority remained the band and this is a big statement on his part, according to TV reports.
He is expected to work with R&B producer Malay, who has collaborated with Frank Ocean and John Legend.
In March, Zayn made a shocking departure from the boy band during the Hong Kong tour that broke fans’ hearts. Reportedly he left One Direction in order to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some personal time out of the spotlight.
One Direction, widely known as 1 D, was formed back in the days in 2010 and Zayn served as an integral part of the group alongside Nial Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Loius Tomlinson.
RCA Records is the American recording label and also part of Sony Music entertainment alongside Epic records and Columbia Records.
The fans are looking forward to the singer’s debut solo record. IMAGE/heatworld
