Gunman attack theater in Tennessee, killed– Wednesday, a Gunman attack with a hatchet and gun inside a movie theater exchanging gunshots with a responding officer before being shot by a SWAT team as he tried to escape in a back door.
The gunman was identified as Vincente David Montano, 29,and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police spokesman Don Aaron said police officers working an accident scene nearby quickly responded to the reports of a Gunman attack at the theater. One of them entered the cinema, encountered the gunman and “may well have saved multiple individuals inside.”
As he ran out the back, the Gunman attack encountered and exchanged gunfire with the SWAT team before he was shot dead. Police Chief Steve Anderson said that authorities had not yet found the assailant’s gun, the gunman had a fake bomb inside of a backpack he was carrying.
That backpack was in the hands of a bomb squad afternoon after the Gunman attack used pepper spray inside the theater. Three people were treated for exposure, and one of them had a cut who was identified as Steven.
“The only thing that I would like to say is that I’m eternally grateful to the Metro Police Department for their fast response today, and the fact that no one else got injured other than the person who did this,” Steven said.
“And I would also like to thank all the citizens who gathered around us, helped my daughter when we were pepper sprayed. That kind of gives me a little bit more faith in humanity again.” he added, “no idea why this gentleman decided to attack us.”
According to Anderson, violence like Wednesday’s shooting are likely to happen “anywhere we gather,” then added: “This is maybe what we call the new normal. We can’t say we’re not going to theaters, we can’t say we’re not going to church. We carry on.”IMAGE/nydailynews.com
