After Head of the Supreme Council of Afghanistan Mullah Omar confirmed dead, Taliban Chief Tayeb Agha stepped down on his position.
Taliban Chief Tayeb Agha resigned after the death of Mullah Omar, the Head of the Supreme Council of Afghanistan. Agha is the head of Taliban Office in Qatar before he stepped down and the former personal secretary and spokesman of Mullah Omar.
He become the personal secretary and translator of Mullah Omar. Tayed Agha learned English and Arabic when he moved to Quetta, enable him to speak a foreign language. His language skills and abilities helped him to worked with Omar, which was very useful in meetings with Arabs.
Recently, reportedly he resigned from his position as Taliban group’s head of the political office in Qatar. After the resignation, Mansour was announced as the new Taliban chief after confirmed the death of Mullah Omar, Friday. For many years, he led the militant movement.
In the statement of Agha saying, “I will not be involved in any kind of statements… and will not support any side in the current internal disputes within the Taliban,” he claimed that he had decided to end his work as head of the political office set up back in 2013 to facilitate peace talks between the group and the Afghan government.
Tayeb Agha was one of Taliban leaders who maintained contact with Mullah Omar as he fled through the outskirts of Kandahar City. Agha and Omar had a very good relationship where Omar began to trust Agha with his life, this is one of his reason he decided to give up the position.
Due to his respect to Mullah Omar, Agha said , “In order to live with a clear conscience and abide by the principles of Mullah Omar, I decided that my work as head of the political office has ended.” IMAGE/biglawnewsline.com
