After three years, Wonder Girls are back with their new album ’80s-inspired.
Wonder Girls, a South Korean k-pop girl group known for performing their hit single “Nobody”. The single became very successful in the countries where it was released and sold thousands of copies. It topped on charts both in South Korea, China and United States.
The group was the first South Korean group enter the chart when their song charted at number seventy-six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, 2009. They became popular in Asia and even worldwide and been ambassador of Sony Ericsson in the Asia Pacific Region.
In December 2013, Sunye, one of their member left the group after she announced to get married in January 2013. Sunye then focused on her acting career under BH Entertainment. Wonder Girls had their last performance before the break at Winter Special Olympics in Pyeong Chang, South Korea, 5 February 2013.
In statement of Yubin, she explained, “Wonder Girls breakup rumors have been talked about a lot in articles and by other people, but the four of us lived together. Because we talk to Sohee and Sunye all the time, we didn′t really feel it. We didn′t think much of it.”
After three years, JYP Entertainment announced Wonder Girls would be making a comeback with their new single and Sunye joined the group again as the agency confirmed. The group shocked everybody on their comeback as a four-member band and all were playing instrument as they released their third album Reboot, August 3. A new organized member, Yubin playing on drums, Yeeun on keyboard, Hyerim on guitar, and Sunmi on bass.
Bass player Sunmi claimed, “We were satisfied with the process of unraveling the members′ stories and feelings in the album. We all felt like we matured. Promoting as a band is scary, but even if the public thinks it′s strange, we don′t think we′ll have any regrets.”
Despite rumors on group’s break up after the member’s departure, JYP reassured the fans and the public that they were not disbanding, thus the comeback with a new single will surely hit. IMAGE/www.koreaherald.com
