Anonymous Malaysia wants Prime Minister to resign, the group threatens cyber attack starting on August 29.
The hacker group threatened an “all-out Internet war” against the Malaysian Police, Malaysian Anti-corruption Commission (MACC) and with the 150 websites, report said.
The eight-minute video posted on Anonymous Malaysia’s facebook page dated August 4 is calling for the resignation of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak over the current issues the country is facing today. In the video, the PM is blamed for the current downfall in economy as well as the increased corruption.
The step was necessary in the wake of the Anonymous hacker group making threats about hacking into the systems of these entities, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau in a statement.
“As the ministry responsible for ensuring Malaysia’s cyberspace is secure against cyber threats, MOSTI (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation) through CyberSecurity Malaysia and MIMOS Berhad (MIMOS) is continuing to take proactive measures in combating cyber threats,” he said.
“If they take control of the network at any one of these agencies, it can affect the running of the country,” he said assuring that the government is prepared for any possible events.
“We always plan for the worst and have regular crisis simulation drills,” he added.
MIMOS as an ICT research and development agency, develops advanced technology to protect IT infrastructure in organisations, to ward off cyber attacks and also tracks movement of leaked sensitive documents or information in cyber space, according to sources.
The ministry has also informed the agencies to upgrade their software and ensure that the security patches for their computer systems were up-to-date, he said in a statement.
CyberSecurity Malaysia provides technical support to these 10 agencies under the CNII; the agency for defence and security, banking and finance agency, information and communications agency, energy; water agency, transportation agency, health and emergency services agency, and agencies for Food and Agriculture.
