KOTA KINABALU — Complaints of local artists and performers group in Sabah to be given priority in the entertainment center for so long finally got the attention of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister.
Group of local performers have talent and potential to become the state’s tourism industry promoters and their performance is comparable to the artist brought into the state, especially from neighboring countries.
Assistant Minister Datuk Pang Yuk Ming said open opportunities for local artists will not only provide long-term benefits to the arts, but also to the state’s tourism industry.
He said that with more local performers are given the opportunity in entertainment centers in the state, it can help reduce the cost of importing foreign artists.
Pang admits performances have improved local artists than ever before, and they should be given the opportunity to develop talent including entertainment clubs.
Urged operators entertainment clubs to access the talent of local artists, he said, more programs and events involving local artists will be held in the future.
Artists and local bands claiming they were passed on entertainment centers prefer to hire Filipino band that is known ‘Pinoy’ giving rise to anxiety among local artists.
Local musicians and bands have jointly urged the government to regulate the entry of foreign artists who have long dominated the stage entertainment in the state.
They claimed that the entry of foreign performers, especially from the Philippines were severely affected their fate and explain the motion to control the foreign entertainer is a great way to promote equal protection for artists, managers and performers in the state, Permata has a full report.
