Scientist conducted study, showing genes as possible factors of Obesity.
Genetic factor contributes obesity discovered by some scientist, after conducting a thorough research. Obesity mainly refers to medical condition, an excess body fat of a certain person. It can build up negative effect on health that leads to increased health problems and possibly reduced life expectancy.
Through lack of exercise, excessive food intake and now found out as genetic factors of obesity. This increases various diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, certain types of cancer, and osteoarthritis and risk of many physical and mental conditions.
In order to be aware of this factors, scientists at the University of British Columbia or UBC conducted a research and discovered a gene that could be a possible cause of obesity. Gareth Lim, a postdoctoral fellow in UBC’s Life Sciences Institute stated, “People gain fat in two ways – through the multiplication of their fat cells, and through the expansion of individual fat cells.”, “This protein affects both the number of cells and how big they are, by playing a role in the growth cycle of these cells.”
They had found out that most regions of human genome, correlate obesity and theorize that by keeping the gene or blocking protein, they could prevent fat accumulation in people who are overweight, or are on their way to becoming so. Knowing that cases been increased in adults and children as to obesity preventable cause of death worldwide.
Studies focused on genetic factor contributes obesity, with high percentage of offspring of two obese parents were also obese. However, different people exposed to the same environment have different risks of obesity due to their underlying genetics, though found out that gene contributes to problem of obesity.
Like many other medical conditions, obesity possibly result of an interplay between genetic and environmental factors as to limited cases due primarily to genetics, medical reasons, or psychiatric illness. Many factors may seem to contribute obesity, smoking is one cause with significant effect on an individual’s weight. People who quit smoking gain an average weight for men and women, though smoking have little effect on the overall rates of obesity.
The World Health Organization claimed that overweight and obesity may soon replace more traditional public health concerns such as undernutrition and infectious diseases as the most significant cause of poor health.
Aside from genetic factor contibutes obesity, certain medications can also cause weight gain, some of these are insulin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, atypical antipsychotics, antidepressants, steroids, certain anticonvulsants, pizotifen, and some forms of hormonal contraception. People concern with their weight would take the risk, maintaining weight loss is really difficult. It often requires making daily exercises and concern with lower food energy diet as part of lifestyle. Continues diet and exercise, main treatments for obesity, until today it is considered as public health due to its health harmful effects.IMAGE/Manar.com
