Huge blast occurred at Port of Tianjin in the Binhai New Area of China, killing 17 people and hundred injured.
Warehouse blast at Tianjin in the Binhai New Area of China,12 August 2015, Wednesday night killed 17 people and leave hundreds of injured taken to the Tianjin Harbour Hospital. It was believed that huge blast was from unspecified at the plant warehouse of hazardous materials in shipping containers owned by Ruihai Logistics.
Huge explosions hit industrial area in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin, cause was unknown immediately. Rescue and firefighters intermediately rushed on the area to prevent more damage. The smoke column resulting from the explosion was hundreds of meters high.
According to reports, the blasts ripped through a warehouse storing “dangerous goods” in Tianjin’s Binhai New Area around 11:30 p.m. local time. Most likely an industrial accident injuring hundreds of people felt several miles away, and which registered as magnitude 2.3 and 2.9 earthquakes on the seismic scale.
Hundreds of victims were still under observation in the hospital, and some were in critical condition. China’s President Xi Jinping stated, “make full effort to rescue and treat the injured and ensure the safety of people and their property.”
News shows many had extensive injuries, most of the victims had burns and explosive blast injuries caused by hazardous goods. Their were about firefighting teams battling the warehouse blast and two firefighters being treated for injuries.The cause and casualties of the incident are not immediately known in the warehouse blast.
Tianjin has been a major seaport and gateway to the nation’s capital fourth largest in China since mid-19th century. Its port is the world’s top-level and China’s largest artificial deep water harbor. The throughput capacity ranks the fifth place in the world andlocated in Binhai Economic Zone.
