Monday, a black man entered the Metter Sea Island Bank who has an intention of robbery.
- Citizens and police officers responded the incident immediately.
- The bank robber was apprehended by Metter Police in the parking lot outside of the Goodies General.
- The arrest was made about a minute after police received the robbery call.
Badru Osaze Johnson, 26, black male of Savannah, entered Sea Island Bank on South Lewis Street in Metter around 11:30 a.m.,according to Metter police Chief Mack Seckinger.
The bank robber entered the bank and presented tellers a note stating that he had a gun and demanding an undisclosed amount of cash, he also verbally claimed that he had a weapon and kept his hand in his pocket, creating the impression that he had a gun, Metter police Chief Mack Seckinger said.
After the bank robber gets the money from the teller, he fled to the Bi-Lo parking lot behind the Sea Island bank. Witness is watching the robber man as he got into the van and took off his shirt. The witness called law enforcement and told about the robbery. A few minutes, Metter police was in the area to take Johnson, the robber man, into custody, Metter police Chief Mack Seckinger added.
The robber man was mouthy but did not resist arrest and was handcuffed and taken to the Candler County Jail, the chief said. No one was injured in the incident, and all money was recovered.
According to Metter police Chief Mack Seckinger the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted and will continue an investigation on the bank robbery, possibly adding charges to the current charge of armed robbery Johnson faces.IMAGE/AP
