CEBU CITY, Philippines: A graduate from the Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM) topped the August 2015 physician licensure examination, according the Professional Regulation Commission.
- Physician licensure examination was given by the Board of Medicine.
- Andrew Chua Tiu, magna cum laude graduate of the Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM).
- Andrew Chua Tiu getting the highest score of 90.67 percent.
A total of 2,491 out of 2,921 passed the exam. According to him, exam was difficult and he did not expect to top it. He said,“Just like any other student, I studied hard, went back to basics. But I think the special thing is that it is a big blessing from God. I could not have done this without Him.”
The members of the Board of Medicine who gave the licensure examination are Dr. Miguel L. Noche Jr., Chairman; Dr. Edgardo T. Fernando, Dr. Eleanor B. Almoro, Dr. Eleanor J. Galvez, Dr. Ma. Graciela Garayblas-Gonzaga and Dr. Clarita C. Maaño, Members.
In the June 2009, nursing licensure examination, he ranked eighth in the list of successful examinees. He graduated with a magna cum laude in Nursing from Velez College, Cebu.
The other examinees tops physician licensure examination:
Jan Christian Gomez Feliciano of the University of Santo Tomas (UST)(90%), Kristel Tanhui of De La Salle University-Health Sciences Institute (89.75%), Antonio Lorenzo Quiambao of the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (89.58%), George Michael Sosuan of UST (89.25%), Ana Bianca Peralta of UST (89.17%), Thomas Vincent Vergara of UST (89.08%), Tristan Marvin Uy of the University of the Philippines – Manila (89.00%), Anne Margarette Abuluyan of Far Eastern University – Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation (88.92%), Lester Bryan Co of UST (88.83%).
CIM and UP-Manila were also named top-performing schools. All 127 and 156 examinees from CIM and UP-Manila, respectively, passed the test. The board exam was held in the cities of Manila, Cebu, and Davao earlier in August.IMAGE/FACEBOOK
