The 14th edition of the 2013 Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race (MMER 2013) will feature a larger line up of legendary racing manufacturers in what is one of the most gruelling races in the region’s motorsports calendar.
Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and Pacific Project Management (PPM) promise an exciting day and night out for race fans as this year’s series will introduce a midnightstart, new categories and a revised qualifying format with a field of professional and iconic drivers from all corners of the racing world. One such driver is former F1 driver Mika Salo.
The Finn who is no stranger to the grueling demands of endurance racing, having competed in the internationally renowned 12 Hours of Sebring and the Spa-Francochamps 24 Hours is set to race in the red of Ferrari AF Corse Racing Team in the GT3 category. MMER 2013 will also feature the most famous Audi R8 LMS Cup, a seasoned GT race competitor with over 100 international victories.
The midnight start of the MMER 2013 poses a unique and imposing man against the elements challenge. As the race progresses towards the afternoon, teams will have to overcome the climate changes between cool and temperate to hot and humid. The timing suggests more action on the track and more fun for the fans.
