The terrorist group NPA hits Bukidnon, created fear and chaos after five Army soldiers including an officer, wounded.
Sunday, the New People’s Army also known as NPA hits Bukidnon, 20 September 2015. At around 8 in the morning, an explosion happened in Barangay Pagan, Kitaotao in the province of Bukidnon. An Army Officer and 4 soldiers from 8th Infantry Battalion were among the wounded victim of said explosion. In August 2002, the group was designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the United States and in November 2005 by the European Union.
New People’s Army is the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines. It operates mostly in the rural areas, their targets often include military, police, government informers, and businessmen who refuse to pay revolutionary taxes. The latest incident which NPA hits Bukidnon with an improvised explosive device went off. Wounded soldiers were Second Lieutenant Noel Manalang, Sergeant Ruel Lavalle, Private First Class Abdurasan Ibnomusa, Pfc. Ravi Pamalison and Pfc Marvin Dancel.
Capt. Alberto Caber, public information officer of the military’s Eastern Mindanao Command gave statement regarding’s NPA hits Bukidnon. “The soldiers were immediately brought to a medical facility for treatment. The soldiers were discovered bloodstains and medical paraphernalia in the rebel position after the NPAs retreated toward the jungle. They were on pursuit operations against members of the Guerrilla Front 53 of the NPA’s Southern Mindanao Regional Committee who are responsible in the aborted liquidation attempt of White Kulaman Barangay Chairman Felipe S. Cabugnason the other day,” he said.
The group moved its center of operation to the City of Kabankalan, Negros Occidental in January 2015. Their top officials refer to the City of Kabankalan as the “Heart and Liver of Terrorism”, where they plan to attack military and civilian outposts. This is part of their General Plan of Action for the year 2015 labeled as “Operation: Chiquitita”. Recently, peace negotiations been implemented to end tragedy like this and secure peace and order in Bukidnon as well as in the other parts of the country.
