Organized religion is not the only place where people live in a box, willingly offering themselves as slaves to others.
For another example, one need look no further than to the bizarre concept of the “package tour”.
I’ve long thought this was surely a kind of prison masquerading as a vacation.
If a holiday doesn’t involve personal freedom, it’s not a holiday at all. I’d much rather stay home.
I recently came across the following opinion on package tours which hits the nail on the head:
“To follow an itinerary while I’m on vacation, a schedule created by a total stranger, is totally ridiculous to me. I can’t be told when to wake up, when to eat and where to go anyway, let alone when I’m on vacation. I do as I choose when I choose.
The idea of travelling with a group of strangers, normal people whose lives are restricted and limited by the rules of society and institutions, so excited to join the rest of their fellow inmates to be taken in yet another “box”, conveniently branded as “package tours,” is a living nightmare to me. These group excursions seem to have been created by people who do not want to think for themselves, those people who are afraid of freedom.” – Marlene Aguilar, from “Warriors of Heaven“
