Updates: Yangon film festival –Watch Docs in Yangon, a film and human rights event, will be held September 5-7 at the American Center in Dagon township.
Organizers of the festival say entry is free to get to watch some of the best documentaries in the world, and they hope the event will get people watching and talking.
The 14 films spread over the three days are on all kinds of topics, from civil rights to urbanization, and come from countries from Pakistan to Chile.
“By organizing Watch Docs in Yangon we are hoping to trigger discussions between festival participants on the most timely and controversial challenges around the globe,” said a statement from the organizers. “The majority of the movies are screening in Myanmar for the first time ever.”
Organizers also said they have scheduled workshops led by Polish directors Jan Czarlewski and Piotr Stasik, which they believe will be an exciting component of the festival.
