The 63rd edition of the Miss World Pageant 2013 opened Sunday after protests by Muslim hard-liners confined the event to Indonesia’s predominantly Hindu resort island of Bali.
The Jakarta Post reported, days of protests by Indonesian hard-line Muslim groups and the rejection of the contest by a leading clerics’ organization forced the government to move the Sept. 28 final round to Bali. It was initially set to be held in Sentul, on the outskirts of the capital, Jakarta.
This year’s Miss World edition, Miss World Philippines is one of the favorites to bring home the Miss World title. A pageant dedicated site Global Beauties places Miss Philippines Megan Young as one of the top contenders along with Miss Brazil and Miss Spain.
Megan Young, Philippine’s Miss World representative posted on her Facebook page, “The most awesome part of our rooms? The balcony! In the morning I like having my coffee here while catching up with my friends (thank goodness for Wi-fi and online messaging apps! Today we had a photo shoot! Only a bunch of us got to do it and I was so stoked to be a part of it! I unleashed my “emotera” mode today! Emote na emote! Hahaha this look is my all-time favorite. You can never go wrong with deep red lipstick and wing tip eyeliner. #ootd // Pants: Forever21, tanktop: Forever21.”
