Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers faced off for NBA global games 2013 in Manila Philippines.
James Harden led the way as the Houston Rockets dominated the Indiana Pacers in a 116-96 win in a preseason game here as part of the 2013 NBA Global Games at the Mall of Asia Arena.
NBA Commissioner David Stern said basketball-obsessed country is an ideal host for NBA preseason games, and the league may go to other Southeast Asian countries.
According to Inquirer.net report NBA stars fans came from as far as Hong Kong and Davao to watch the Houston Rockets and the Indiana Pacers play in their preseason game at the Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013.
Houston coach Kevin McHale started Patrick Beverly at point guard and Terrence Jones at power forward instead of Jeremy Lin and Donatas Motiejunas, who started in the first preseason game.
“I told them I will change starting lineups every game to see what happens. They’re aware of it,” McHale said. “On this game, I saw D-Mo (Motiejunas) having a great synergy with Omri Casspi and the bench was just energized.”
Participating in the NBA Global Games, the meeting between Indiana and Houston marked the first time two NBA teams had played in the Philippines – and they did so in front of a vociferous and appreciative sold-out crowd (listed attendance: 12,885).
