Singapore — In an island-wide drug bust operation the Central Narcotics Bureau arrested 108 people and seized over S$160,000 (US$128,000) worth of drugs in the past four days, according to a Today report out of Singapore.
The 4-day operation, which ran from October 7 to 11, confiscated 1,200g of heroin, 20g of crystal methamphetamines (“ice”), 610g of cannabis, 70g of ketamine, over 290 Erimin-5 tablets, and about 30 Ecstasy tablets.
Four suspects were arrested in the main heroin bust, a 48-year-old Singaporean and three Malaysians aged 18, 19 and 20.
The CNB said all four are being investigated for drug trafficking, and may face the death penalty if convicted.
The CNB was supported by the police in the crackdown, which covered several areas including Aljunied, Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Boon Lay, Chai Chee, Clementi, Ghim Moh, Hougang, Jurong Marsiling, Redhill, and West Coast.
This was the second high profile drug bust conducted by the CNB and police of Singapore in recent weeks. In late September another 4-day operation arrested 106 suspects and seized S$118,000 worth of drugs. Image/therealsingapore.com
