Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand — Thai police arrested a man Sunday found to be in possession of 9 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in Nakhon Ratchasima, according to a Bangkok Post report.
Nine bars of the drug, commonly called “ice” on the street, were discovered in the pickup truck he was driving at a police checkpoint.
The man was identified at a press conference as Chotiros Natrantruk, a tobaccco farmer from Nong Khai, said Pol Maj Gen Supakij Srichantaraont, deputy chief of the Narcotic Suppression Bureau.
Mr. Chotiros said a Lao man hired him for 50,000 baht to deliver the drugs from Savannakhet to a client in the Nava Thanee area of Pathum Thani province.
Police charged him with having illicit drugs in his possession with intent to sell.
The highly addictive crystal meth is considered one of the fastest growing street drugs in the world and a serious global drug problem.
