China’s economy grew 7.8% in Q3 based on the latest survey, economists’ average forecast is now calling for a 7.8% gain for the third quarter, according to a Reuters survey. The socialist market economy of China is the world’s second largest economy by nominal GDP and by purchasing power parity after the United States.
The median forecast in a survey of 11 economists saw growth ahead of both the 7.5% logged in the April-June period and 7.7% in the first three months of the year.

Industry and construction account for 46.8% of China’s GDP. In 2009 around 8% of the total manufacturing output in the world came from China itself and China ranked third worldwide in industrial output that year.
Research by IHS Global Insight states that in 2010 China contributed to 19.8% of world’s manufacturing output and became the largest manufacturer in the world that year, after the US had held that position for about 110 years.
