Bangkok — His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand passed away Thursday evening at 7:30pm at Chulalongkorn Hospital in Bangkok, according to reports.
The hospital said His Holiness died of a blood infection, and that the medical team will hold a press conference later tonight to clarify the details of his death. He had been ill since 2002.
His Holiness is considered the longest living Supreme Patriarch of Thai Buddhism in history. He turned 100 on October 3.
