Singapore — Ashley Madison, a popular dating website that encourages married individuals to have affairs, is not welcome in Singapore, said Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing.
The media has reported that Ashley Madison is planning a launch in Singapore next year.
Mr. Chan said in a Facebook post on Friday, “I do not welcome such a website into Singapore. I’m against any company or website that harms marriage. Promoting infidelity undermines trust and commitment between a husband and wife, which are core to marriage”.
Ashley Madison is a Canada-based website that facilitates extramarital affairs between married individuals. It’s slogan is “Life is short. Have an affair”.
The site has over 21 million users worldwide, and has expanded to other Asian countries such as Japan, and most recently to Hong Kong this past August. Image: news.softpedia.com
