A routine Tuesday where I found myself boarded on a train bound to Zhunan for my class, the only unusual thing about this moment is that my zest has faded due to a cold, headache and runny nose. Wrapping half of my face with the protection mask, I lean on the train wall planning to nap while moving.
As I grabbed my phone to play Creed music while napping, I suddenly caught a glimpse of such an ordinary queue, yet of big social significance. That was, seated across were busy commuters lined up and mesmerized on their respective cell phones. Thus, I come to think of Howard Gardner (read more) who considers the ability to mingle and socialize with others as a kind of intelligence. However, the fact that people tend to indulge their quality time on mobile devices rather than to interact with peers I suppose that maybe and somehow individuals’ Interpersonal Intelligence has come to its doom.
With this, the chance of eye to eye contact has long gone by the wind, carrying along with it the chance of friendship, leaving only traces of peculiarity to others. Not only that, but the mutual understanding through seeing upon each other’s eyes will soon be a difficult code to be encrypted. In this case, would it still be righteous to say that “The eyes are the window of our soul”?
THE LOST AFFECTION
Additionally, the natural affection of man to man will soon be altered and slowly vanish. The normal chatting Sunday afternoon in a coffee shop with some circle of friends will soon be replaced with a silenced coffee meeting with head bowing and skimming through the techy updates on one’s mobile. Again, would it still be decent to call it a friends’ get together?
THE LOST GAME
Also, the normal anticipated mahjong or poker night for the big boys will soon come to an end because everyone will soon be more drawn by the myriad choices of game apps on mobile gadgets, thus detaching the bond that used to chain the intimacy among the big men. With this, would poker night for boys still exist?
I mean no harm to techy-gadgets because I for one have truly been benefited by them. However, I am saddened by the scenario that was unfolded in front of me and left me to ponder if worse is to come; I hope it shall not be hostility.
