Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — The two-year-old son of a British expatriate was kidnapped at their home on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur today.
The mother, Sarah Joseph, sustained injuries to her arms from a machete when she tried to prevent the kidnapper from getting away with the child, said a friend of the mother.
The incident occurred in Bangsar, an affluent suburb of Kuala Lumpur, at about 6pm Friday.
The kidnapper was described as 5-feet-6-inches tall male with Chinese or Burmese features, and fled in a white Toyota Camry with the car registration plate number BKP 4386, according to reports.
There was also a Asian female accomplice in the car who wore a headscarf and had long black hair.
The boy’s name is Freddie.
The police are reportedly going to hold a news conference about the case later tonight.
