Johor Baru, Malaysia — Police say they are on the trail of the suspects in the murder and kidnapping of two tourists from China in Pom-Pom Island, Semporna, Sabah early Friday morning.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the incident occurred about 1am, and that the Chinese couple was believed to be married, according to reports.
“The male tourist from China was shot dead, while the woman, whom we believe is his wife, was kidnapped by the group of men,” he said during a press conference after visiting police headquarters in Johor Baru today.
Johor Police Chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff was also present at the press conference
It is believed the victims checked into their resort on Tuesday and had planned to check out next Wednesday.
