July 28 Indianapolis Motor Speedway: Ryan Newman raced to Victory Lane as he was on the track when he held off Jimmie Johnson. Newman took the lead while Johnson pitted. Then, two laps later, Newman made his final pit stop in much quicker time to maintain the lead until the end.
Johnson finished second in the crash-free race, Kasey Kahne was third and two-time Brickyard 400 winner Tony Stewart was fourth.
“To me, it’s awesome to be here at Indy. It’s awesome because it’s my home state. I’ve raced go karts at pretty much every go kart track around here, been kicked out of half of them. Those are the things that make it special. I think about those things more than I carry the emotion on my cheeks.”
