Singapore — Singapore rates third in the world’s best cities for university students, according to the annual QS Best Student Cities rankings released this week.
Singapore had the highest rating in Asia, with Hong Kong coming in seventh, the only other Asian city to rank among the world’s top ten.
Only Paris and London ranked higher than Singapore among the world’s cities.
The top ten cities were Paris, London, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, Zurich, Hong Kong, Boston, Montreal, and Munich.
The rankings were compiled by the London-based consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds, best known for its annual QS World University Rankings.
The rankings were based on five key pillars, broken down into individual criteria: university rankings, student mix, quality of living, employer activity, and affordability, said reports.
Cities must meet two pre-requisites to be evaluated for the Best Student Cities rankings: They must have a population over 250,000 and they must be home to at least two ranked institutions in the QS World University Rankings.
