Bangkok — The world’s largest human Christmas tree record was set by 852 Bangkok schoolchildren Friday, in a Buddhist country where Christmas isn’t even a holiday.
The previous record was set by 672 participants in Germany in 2011.
The stunt was performed outside the Thai capital’s upscale Siam Paragon shopping mall, with the 6 to 15-year-old children dressed in red, green and black hoodies.
A Guinness Records representative was on hand to certify the record, said a Bangkok Post report.
Some of the children were reportedly somewhat disappointed that the event did not involve standing on one another’s shoulders, but the parents were no doubt relieved that it did not.
