Singapore — A newborn baby girl was found abandoned in Singapore with her umbilical cord still attached outside a terrace house off Sixth Avenue on Friday night.
Police said they received a call for assistance about 9:20pm at the home. Investigations are ongoing in what has been classified as an Abandonment of a Child case.
A woman who lives at the home, who declined to be named, said her Indonesian maid found the baby when she was taking out the trash, reported The Straits Times.
The baby was wrapped in a towel and left at her gate. “I don’t know why the baby was abandoned there,” the woman said.
More than 10 uniformed police officers were seen outside the house on Friday night, according to neighbors.
A next-door neighbor said police woke her up at 11pm to ask if she had seen anyone outside her home with a baby.
