Singapore teenage transvestite gets rehab for attempted blackmail: A teenage transvestite was ordered on Thursday to undergo reformative training for attempting to blackmail a man for S$50 (US$39.40) by threatening to upload nude photos of the victim online, according to reports.
The teenager, 17-year-old Ryan Raj, was cross-dressed at the time of the offence, said reports.
One week before his attempted extortion, he had become acquainted with the 25-year-old male victim on an online chat site called “Alamak”.
First, the victim had sent Raj naked photos of himself.
Then, they exchanged phone numbers and agreed to meet up. Eventually, they met, said reports.
About a week later, on September 24, the accused demanded the victim give him S$50, and the demand came with a threat.
Raj threatened to upload nude photos of the victim online.
But instead of paying Raj the S$50, the victim filed a police report against him.
On a separate matter, Raj also reportedly confessed to providing false information to the police in September.
Raj pleaded for leniency in court, asking the judge not to send him for reformative training because he has “enemies” there, according to a Channel News Asia report.
But Judge Shaiffudin Saruwan responded that the accused is suitable for rehabilitation only in a structured environment.
