National Weather Service issued winter storm warning in effect for Southeast Texas.
“A cold front with an Arctic airmass behind has moved into Southeast Texas this afternoon. Temperatures will hold steady and then begin to fall during the afternoon and evening.”
“Temperatures should drop below freezing early tonight from College Station to Crockett and then around midnight for the Houston area. Freezing temperatures could reach the coast during the early morning hours of Friday.”
A winter weather event including 1) snow, ice, or sleet meeting or exceeding locally defined 12 and/or 24 hour warning criteria; or 2) a combination of snow, ice, or sleet and blowing snow with at least one of the precipitation elements meeting or exceeding locally defined 12 and/or 24 hour warning criteria.
The exact track and strength of the Sunday night/Monday storm will determine how much snow falls and where the cut off to the band of accumulating snow occurs.
