Pope Francis Visit Philippines 2015: The leader of the Roman Catholic Church Pope Francis will visit the Philippines early next year for the first time, church officials in Manila confirmed Monday.
“Pope Francis from Argentina was elected the first non-European pope in 1,300 years two weeks later.”
Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle officially announced the schedule of the pontiff’s visit in a press briefing yesterday at the Arzobispado de Manila in Intramuros.
The pontiff had earlier revealed his plan to visit the Philippines, particularly the victims of super-typhoon “Yolanda” in Eastern Visayas.
Pope Francis Visit Philippines 2015 “Accepting the invitation of the civil authority and the bishops, His Holiness Pope Francis will make an apostolic visit to Sri Lanka from January 12 to 15 and to the Philippines from January 15 to 19, 2015,” he said.
The Archbishop of Manila said the theme for the Bishop of Rome’s visit will be “Mercy and Compassion” and he urged the Catholic faithful to do “Corporal Works of Mercy” before the grand event.
Roman Catholic Church, is the largest Christian church, with more than 1.2 billion members worldwide.
