FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 Carli Lloyd won them the game, indeed a star and was awarded the Golden Ball the best player at the World Cup.
USA bagged the trophy after their 5-2 win over Japan, Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Ellen DeGeneres were among those to express their pride after USA beat Japan 5-2 in the final in Vancouver.
Carli Lloyd scored three times in just 16 minutes to propel the Americans to a 5-2 win and their first FIFA Women’s World Cup in 16 years, their third overall. She has played in over 200 matches for the U.S. national team and scored over 50 goals.
“I’m so proud and so zapped at the same time,” Lloyd said. ” It doesn’t feel real. We just made history.”
United States midfielder Lloyd indeed was the star of stars Sunday, and throughout the tournament. The United States had seven shots on goal, while Japan had four. On Sunday, she scored in the third, fifth and 16th minutes of play, leaving the 2011 champions stunned, according to CNN report.
Lloyd is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and scored the gold medal-winning goals in the finals of both the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics.
