East Liverpool City Schools dismissed allegations, asserted in the unfair labor practice.
The allegation charges filed against the East Liverpool City School District Board of Education after
the Board implemented its Last Best Offer.
According to East Liverpool City Schools press release, The parties are ordered to mediation regarding the sole remaining issue, which is SERB’s finding of probable cause regarding the Board’s removal of the Athletic Director Position from the bargaining unit.
“Dr. Melissa Watson, Superintendent, stated, “In its unfair labor practice charge, the ELEA made numerous allegations against the Board, including but not limited to claims that the Board refused to bargain with the ELEA, that the Board did not respond to the ELEA’s requests for information, and that the Board was not permitted to provide information to the public through its press releases.”
“It is my understanding that, of the many allegations the ELEA asserted, the only area where SERB has concern is the Board’s removal of the Athletic Director position from the bargaining unit.”
SERB has ordered the parties to the next step in the process, which is mediation to resolve the dispute.
“If mediation is unsuccessful, the matter will proceed to a hearing to determine whether the Board committed an unfair labor practice when it removed the Athletic Director position from the bargaining unit.”
“SERB has not made a finding for or against either party at this juncture and the parties will be providing additional information before SERB can reach a final decision.” Press Release said.
