A vessel loaded with goods caught up on fire at Dubai Creek near Baniyas Street, United Arab Emirates and in no time the blaze spread to the nearby two boats.
Later on, the dock as well got affected by the massive fire. No casualties have been reported.
Dubai operations room received a call from one of the crew members, about the fire on Monday afternoon and the teams of fire fighters were rushed to the scene within minutes.
The incident was also reported by the eye-witnesses on social media with some horrifying images of the scene.
The fire brigades and rescue teams from four different stations were on the scene battling the blaze.
They evacuated 14 sailors and other crew member on board. All of them were in good health, no breathing issues and no major injuries, except one of the crew members suffered some minor injuries while trying to escape.
Maj Gen Rashid Al Matroushi, Director of Dubai Civil Defence, told the reporters that a fire broke out on wooden vessels and spread to the wharf area, where it ignited some of the items stored on the wharf.
“The cause of the fire is unclear.
We have to wait for the forensic lab report,” Maj Gen Al Matroushi said.
The two boats were carrying goods such as electronic and clothes and these vessels were ready to set sail to Iran.
The financial loss is not yet known, but it could amount to millions of Dirham.
One of the officials said, there were successive explosions due to the inflammable goods such as perfumes and dyes. Image/ Gulf News
