Australian court sentenced father who was found guilty upon his 12-year-old daughter’s marriage to 26-year-old Lebanese man.
Legal action was taken by the court to Australian,63-year-old man, father of 12-year-old girl forced to marry a man twice of her age at his Hunter Valley home.
The father found guilty for letting his underage daughter into Islamic “marriage” ceremony in a 26-year-old Lebanese man.
He urged sexual intercourse between his 12-year-old daughter and a man more than twice her age.
According to Judge Deborah Sweeney “(The man) failed in his duty to his daughter,” during sentencing at the Downing Centre District Court in Sydney.
The 63-year-old father claimed that his after of the child’s welfare. Saving the daughter from sin of having sex outside marriage.
Judge Sweeney opposed on what the father said, knowing contraceptive was against the religious teachings they followed.
He was sentenced to 8 years in imprisonment for marrying off 12 year old daughter, however, eligible for parole in 2020.
Currently, the 12-year-old daughter is in the good hands while 26-year-old Lebanese man jailed for sexual child abuse and sentenced to seven-and-a-half years earlier this year.
It was was found that the father settled everything. The way on how the couple meet, the exchange of phone numbers and even hosted the said ceremony.
The father also give permission to the 12-year-old daughter to have a night with the man after the wedding.
In the statement of Mr Licha , “The way this offence has evolved is against the backdrop of his faith as a Muslim,” a faith he said was presently seen in “not a great light” he told the court.
“The nature of the offence and his faith, and the birth of this offence coming from the Quran … that may cause his time in custody to be onerous.”
For the unlawful sexual activity, being an accessory of procuring his daughter, 63-year-old father will face his life in prison.IMAGE/nz.news.yahoo.com
