Flash Floods hits Janda Baik.- – -On Sunday, Heavy rain triggered flash floods in Janda Baik and washed away a bridge to private property as well as a water main, cutting piped water supply to several village homes.
The plans of several families to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri at resorts in Janda Baik had to be aborted after a flash flood hit the area.
A flash flood is a rapid flooding of geomorphic low-lying areas: washes, rivers, dry lakes and basins. It may be caused by heavy rain associated with a severe thunderstorm, hurricane, tropical storm, or melt water from ice or snow flowing over ice sheets or snowfields. Flash floods may occur after the collapse of a natural ice or debris dam, or a human structure such as a man-made dam.
According to Rusma, owner of Al-Sakinah Eco Resort. Many of them arrived at about 9.30am and they were shocked to see the roads filled with water.
