A suspect in Modesto Murders also killed 2-year-old last year was arrested in killing 5 people in California.
The bodies found in Modesto home were Martinez and Crews lived in. The five people killed was identified as Amanda Crews, Crews; 2 daughters, Elizabeth,6 and 6 month-old Rachael, Anna Brown Romero 57 year-old, Martinez’s mother and Martinez’s 5-year old niece.
On Monday, in a news conference. the man was arrested in killing of five people including his 6 month-old daughter and her mother. Police said that he is also a suspect in the murder of a 2-year-old boy last year.
Modesto police said, the suspect of Modesto murders was Martin “Marty” Martinez, 30, was arrested early Sunday morning and is being held without bail in the October 2014 death of Christopher Ripley.
Christopher Ripley was the son of Amanda Crews, a physician with whom Martinez had a relationship.
Modesto Police Chief Galen Carroll said, Christopher Ripley, was with suspect Martin Martinez, 30, last October when he died of blunt force trauma.”He sustained a head injury while Martin Martinez was watching him alone,” he added.
Police announced Monday, Last week, a doctor determined that the October death of a 2-year-old boy in Martinez’s care was a homicide, not an accident.
The police did not issue a warrant against Modesto murders suspect Martinez earlier because they are waiting for the written report of pathologist.
According to Carroll on press conference, “The Modesto Police Department did not drop the ball, There has to be enough time to file a case. We had received a verbal indication Thursday and not the final report.”
Jail records shows that Martinez is being held in the Santa Clara County Jail without bail. It was not immediately clear whether he had legal representation.
