Singapore MRT lines disruption, Transport Minister expresses apology to outraged stranded commuters as SMRT lines broke down for an hour.
Power surge caused the transport interruption according to initial investigation, Power surge is an oversupply of voltage from the power source, although surges are very short in duration.
Singaporean commuters experienced worst thing when SMRT lines crippled, North-South and East-West bound lines, affecting thousands of commuters during the rush hour.
Security officers blocked the escalator after the massive breakdown which caused the passengers to crowd.
“The power surge caused the protective relays across the entire North South East West Lines network to be activated, leading to a shut-down of power across the two lines. We will continue to comb through the system through the night to see if there could be other faulty trains or other causes,” LTA added.
Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew, asked apologized because of the transportation delay, caused stranded commuters at the station as they experienced massive disruption during rush hours.
“I am sorry that so many commuters experienced massive disruptions to their journeys during the evening peak hours.” he added.
Singapore MRT lines services were suspended for a thorough investigation on the cause of the breakdown, this is for the safety of the passengers.
