A Chinese Mandopop singer and actor actor Han Geng has landed an undisclosed role in Michael Bay’s installment of the Transformers franchise, following the lead of Chinese actress Li Bingbing who also signed on for the film back in May.
Actress Bingbing has been cast as part of Paramount’s cooperation agreement with the China Movie Channel. According to reports the announcement was first released on the Weibo website of m1905.com, owned and operated by Transformers 4 co-producer China Movie Channel posted a message on Michael Bay’s account in which the director described Han as “one of Asia’s top stars in the worlds of music, television and movies.
Han Geng replied a ‘thank you’ message also via Weibo, thanking Bay and the film’s production partners Paramount Pictures, Jiaflix Enterprises and the China Movie Channel and said the move is “a childhood dream coming true.” reports says.
The filming of “Transformers 4” had started a month ago in China. The last Transformers movie, Dark of the Moon, grossed $165 million in China in 2011 making China the second biggest market for the movie after the U.S.
