2013 Astronomical events for this month of November: A meteor crossing the night sky, a rare and spectacular solar eclipse happened on Sunday Nov 3 wowed sky-watchers, movements of celestial bodies can be seen from earth throughout November.
According to Space.com, the Sunday eclipse was a rare hybrid solar eclipse, which began over the Atlantic Ocean as an annular eclipse and transitioned into a full total solar eclipse for observers along the narrow path of totality in the eastern Atlantic and over parts of Africa.
A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and the Moon fully or partially blocks the Sun.
The South Taurid meteor crossing the night sky in early November, can be seen best from the Northern Hemisphere. The North Taurid meteor shower peaks a little later, overnight on Nov. 11 into Nov. 12.
The North Taurids meteor showers expected to glow the night sky after the South Taurid peak, on the night of November 11/12.
