PHILIPPINES: Carly Rae Jepsen live, second Manila concert

Canadian singer and songwriter performed in Manila for the second time, after schedule cancelled.

Carly Rae Jepsen, 29 year-old music sensation performed for Filipino fans once again. The show was her second Philippine concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, 14 September 2015, Monday. Canadian singer-songwriter first visited the Philippines in 2013. Her concert was originally scheduled last August, however, been cancelled due to typhoon which also affected her other Asian show dates.

The one-night only show is part of her hit single “I Really Like You” from her third album “E·MO·TION” which was released just this year. The album is influenced by songs from the 1980s and a reflection of
Carly Rae Jepsen’s personal life. She refers recent album as a product of experimentation and creative soul-searching, that thrived along with her passion as an artist.

During press conference, Carly Rae Jepsen stated: “A part of me, there’s a realist, then there is some sort of fairytale-ish side in my personality, and I think I constantly battle with these two. But when it comes to music, that’s the place where your imagination can be at play. You don’t have to think about the rules of the world. It’s a lot about having that child-like imagination when you have also no filters about being scared of the idea being stupid.”

Carly Rae Jepsen been very successful in her music career. She received multiple awards and nominations. “I probably grew a lot as a woman and as an artist. I also had a lot more time to think about the songs I write and the music I would be making. I can say that this album means more to me than any other album I’ve made before, and that is precisely because I actually had the time to make sure it’s everything I wanted to be,” Canadian singer-songwriter said.
