Dwyane Wade Contract back to Miami Heat team for a one-year at least. After 12 years together, both parties have agreed for $20 million 1 year contract.
An insider said, that all-Star point guard on Thursday accepted a one-year free-agent deal to return to the Miami Heat.
An 11-time All-Star, Wade averaged 21.5 points this past season said, “It has been an honor and privilege to play with the Miami HEAT the past twelve years. The HEAT family and I have shared incredible moments over the years and I look forward to continuing our journey.
I am extremely proud of my personal contributions in helping to build the HEAT franchise and for bringing three NBA championship wins to our great city.
For my entire NBA career, Miami has always been my city and my home. I’m overwhelmed with the love and support the Miami community have consistently shown me and my family throughout the years.”
The agreement between to parties was finalized with Dwayne Wade and Miami Heat President Pat Riley in Los Angeles. It was a long distance conclusion for Miami Heat, considering the Bosh re-signed team last summer while he was in Africa.
From the Heat’s perspective, this contract is a win from a public relations standpoint, a basketball standpoint and a roster-planning standpoint.
“Mr. Wade is one of the NBA’s few remaining franchise icons, and letting him walk would have been borderline sacrilegious to the Heat’s fan base.”
Teams may negotiate trades prior to July 9, but cannot complete such transactions until then, the date when the salary-cap and luxury-tax thresholds are established for 2015-16.
