Miss Grand International 2015 contestants arrive Thailand - The contestants in the Miss Grand International 2015 beauty contest arrived at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport on Monday.
They were scheduled to travel to the eastern coastal province of Trat where they will pose for swimsuit photographs.
Thailand is hosting the 3rd Miss Grand International pageant on October 25 at Bangkok’s Indoor Stadium, Huamark.
The Preliminary Show is scheduled for Friday, October 23 at 2 p.m., and The Final Show on Sunday, October 25 at 8 p.m., and will be broadcast around the world.
The annual Miss Grand International beauty pageant is run by the Miss Grand International Organization based in Thailand which searches for potential women to encourage and run the campaign “Stop the War and Violence”, with the ideal of ending all forms of violence and hostility and improving the quality of life for all of humanity.
The pageant’s official website states “An end to war is an ideal of freedom, peace, and harmony within us all, be it country, religion, race, community, family, life is simply better when it is at peace.”
The contest has special awards in the following categories: Miss Popular Vote, Best in Swimsuit, Best Social Media, Best in Evening Gown, and Best National Costume.
Competition awards are presented for Title Miss Grand International 2015, and for the 1st - 4th Runner up.
A Welcome Ceremony and Press Conference is scheduled for October 7th.
The Best in Swimsuit Competition at Trat is scheduled for October 11th, and the Best National Costume Competition for October 17th.
The contestants will enjoy a Welcome Reception Party on the Wonderful Pearl Cruise on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok.
They will also participate in activities and a tour of Bangkok, as well as activities and a tour of Trat Province from October 8-14 and of Samut Songkhram Province from October 14-18.
Daryanne Lees of Cuba is the reigning Miss Grand International, crowned on October 7, 2014 in Bangkok. The winner of the first contest in 2013 was Janelee Chaparro of Puerto Rico.
In last year’s contest, the 1st - 4th runner ups were contestants from Ethiopia, Canada, Australia, and Colombia.
Over 100 contestants from countries all over the world are scheduled to participate in this year’s contest.
