For better pregnancy and avoid pelvic girdle pain, study suggest regular exercise.
News study shows regular exercise may give better pregnancy and protects women to experience pelvic girdle pain which most women experience who less likely to exercise. This pain is a common problem in the later stages, it is defined as pain across the back and front of the pelvis. Through regular exercise, it help improves muscle tone, gives strength and endurance which contributes for women to adapt changes that pregnancy brings.
In order to examine whether an association exists between exercise levels before pregnancy and pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy is the main goal of new study. Women found to have a regular exercise before pregnancy experience less pain and complications. They are encouraged to engage in high intensity exercise programs including
45 minutes aerobics and jogging, running associated with less risk of pelvic girdle pain as for they are need to increase energy. This high-impact exercises improves and keep up their physical fitness.
Lead author Katrine Mari Owe of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health in Oslo said that between 20 and 40 percent of pregnant women experience some pelvic girdle pain late in pregnancy. This is associated with joint and ligament changes in their body caused by the growing baby. It is important that women with pelvic girdle pain seek help to deal with the pain throughout pregnancy. We have no evidence to recommend complete rest for nine months, but she must take into account the pain and find alternative ways to stay physically active.
Owe also added, “What was surprising to us was that even women who exercised only once or twice a week (before pregnancy) had lower risk of developing pelvic girdle pain compared to those who did not exercise at all. Together with her colleagues, they wrote: “Though the long-term effect of exercise on pain remains unclear, women who exercise regularly pre-pregnancy are more likely to continue throughout pregnancy.”
Researchers suggest that women must have a regular exercise to lower risk of developing pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy. A three-to-five times weekly exercise could give great benefit to women. Though women especially those who are pregnant are advice to engage physical exercise, they are said to avoid high risk of falling such as horseback riding or skiing. IMAGE/HELLOMAMAS
